The Nissan Magnite has just been launched in India, making it the newest entrant in the compact SUV segment.The Magnite’s introductory prices start at Rs 4.99 lakh for the base XE trim-level and goes up to Rs 9.45 lakh for the top-spec XV Premium (O) CVT.  The company has also announced that prices are introductory and will go up from January 1, 2021. 

It comes with a naturally aspirated (NA) petrol and a turbo-petrol engine.

__Nissan Magnite features__

Nissan is offering the Magnite in five main trim-levels – XE, XL, XV, XV Premium and XV Premium (O). In top spec, the Magnite gets a long equipment list that includes LED bi-projector headlamps with LED DRLs, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and foldable wing mirrors, roof-rails as well as front and rear faux skid plates.

Furthermore, it also gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a segment-first wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 7.0-inch TFT display for instrument cluster, voice recognition technology, push-button start,cruise control, a 360-degree around view camera, tyre pressure-monitor and all-black interior

For the Magnite XV, XV Premium and XV Premium (O) trims, Nissan also offers an optional Technology Package. For an extra Rs 39,000, this package adds equipment like wireless charging, air purifier, ambient mood lighting, puddle lamps, and JBL speakers, over and above the already available features.

In terms of styling, the compactSUV is well proportioned and has a muscular stance thatis accentuated by its strong body lines. Some of the Magnite’s stand-out design features include the L-shaped LED DRLs, swept-back headlights, large octagonal grille, thick C-pillars, haunches above the rear, and the black body cladding that goes around the SUV. Dual-tone colour schemes are available with all variants save for the lower-spec XE and XL, and add Rs 14,000 to the price.

Under the hood, the Magnite comes with the choice of two petrol engines. The first is a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder,naturally aspirated engine producing 72hp, whilethe second option is a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder,turbo-petrol unit (HRA0) that churns out 100hp and 160Nm of torque. Nissan is not going to offer a diesel engine with the Magnite.

In terms of gearbox options, both engines come paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. The turbo-petrol additionally gets the option of a CVT automatic gearbox,but in this configuration the engine’s torque output drops by 8Nm (to 152Nm).

Being a compactSUV, the Nissan Magnite will face stiff competition from the likes of the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and the Toyota Urban Cruiser. 

It is worth mentioning that the Magnite’s pricing makes it the cheapest offering in its segment, and by a decent margin at that. At its introductory Rs 4.99 lakh starting price, it is priced substantiallylower than the Kia Sonet (Rs 6.71 lakh) and Hyundai Venue (Rs 6.75 lakh), both of which previously had the most affordable starting prices in the segment.

Even on the higherend of the spectrum, the Magnite continues to undercut its rivals.At Rs 9.45 lakh, the CVT equipped top-spec XV Premium (O) trim is cheaper than all the entry-level automatic compact SUVs, barring the AMT-equipped Nexon XMA. In fact, the top-spec manual’s price is closer to its rival’s mid-spec trim-levels.

These factors combined should help increase the Magnite’s appeal in our market.

TDP chief announces candidate for Tirupati by-election 

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has defeated the CM Chandrashekar Rao-led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to register a victory in the Dubbaka Assembly bypoll.

The counting, which was held in 23 rounds on Tuesday, has put the BJP's Madhavaneni Raghunandan Rao ahead of his closest rival TRS candidate Solipeta Sujatha by a margin of 1,118 votes. The Election Commission is yet to declare the result as the counting for four EVM is pending due to technical reasons.

Congress's Cheruku Srinivas Reddy ended its tally at only 21,819 votes as compared to the BJP's 62,772 votes and the TRS's 61,302 votes.

TRS state chief KTR has conceded defeat. "Thanks to those who voted for us in Dubbak. Thanks to those who tried for the victory of the party. The result did not come as we expected. We will analyse the results in-depth," KTR said.

The by-election had become the centre of a high decibel battle for the ruling TRS, BJP, and Congress in an otherwise ordinary constituency.

China has stepped up its road construction activity in the Doklam plateau to ensure that all-weather access is maintained in the region, where India and China were involved in a nearly 70-day stand-off in 2017, indicates a satellite image accessed by NDTV.
The August 2019 image here is of an over-ground 'tunnel' which shelters part of the key northern access route through the high-altitude Merug La pass.

A satellite image from October seen by this correspondent, indicates that Chinese construction workers have extended the length of the 'tunnel'' on this stretch to 500 metres.

* తృణధాన్యాలను కూడా ఆహారంలో భాగం చేసుకోవాలి. ఇవి ఎక్కువసేపు ఆకలిని అదుపులో ఉంచడంతో పాటు బరువును కూడా నియంత్రణలో ఉంచుతాయి. అలాగే ప్రొటీన్లు ఎక్కువగా లభించే బీన్స్, నట్స్.. వంటివి కూడా తీసుకోవచ్చు.

* తక్కువ క్యాలరీలుండే ఆరోగ్యకరమైన ఆహారం తీసుకోమన్నాం కదా అని, మరింత నాజూగ్గా ఉండాలని.. ఇలాంటి ఆహారాన్ని ఎక్కువ మొత్తంలో తీసుకోవడం కూడా మంచిది కాదు. దీనివల్ల బరువు పెరగడం మాత్రమే కాదు, ఆయాసం వచ్చే అవకాశం ఉంది. కాబట్టి తీసుకున్న ఆహారం మీకు సరిపోయిందనిపిస్తే ఇక తినడం ఆపేయాలి.
* మీరు తినేటప్పుడు చిన్నగా ఉండే ప్లేట్లను ఉపయోగించడం మంచిది.
* ఆహారం వేగంగా తినకుండా.. నెమ్మదిగా నములుతూ తినాలి. దీనివల్ల తిన్న ఆహారం త్వరగా జీర్ణమయ్యే అవకాశం ఉంటుంది. కాబట్టి నెమ్మదిగా తినడం అలవాటు చేసుకోవాలి.
* తీసుకునే ఆహారం ఒకేసారి ఎక్కువగా కాకుండా కొద్దికొద్దిగా ఎక్కువసార్లు తినడం మంచిది.

వ్యాయామం తప్పనిసరి..* నడుము నాజూగ్గా ఉంచుకోవడంలో వ్యాయామం కూడా ముఖ్య పాత్ర పోషిస్తుంది. ఇందులో భాగంగా వారానికి ఐదు రోజులు ప్రతిరోజూ అరగంట పాటు కార్డియో ఎక్సర్‌సైజులు చేయడం అలవాటు చేసుకోవాలి.* ప్రతిరోజూ ఉదయం లేదా సాయంత్రం.. ఇలా మీకు ఎప్పుడు వీలైతే అప్పుడు వ్యాయామం చేయడం మాత్రం మరచిపోవద్దు. లేదంటే ఒక్కో సందర్భంలో మీరు ఎన్ని ఆహార నియమాలు పాటించినా వృథానే అవుతుంది.* ఉదయం నిద్రలేచిన తర్వాత కనీసం 20 నిమిషాల పాటు వాకింగ్ లేదా రన్నింగ్ చేయాలి. దీనివల్ల అటు శరీరానికి.. ఇటు మనసుకు ప్రశాంతంగా అనిపించడంతో పాటు నిద్ర మత్తు కూడా వదిలిపోతుంది. తర్వాత వ్యాయామం చక్కగా చేసుకోవడానికి శరీరం సహకరిస్తుంది.
* డ్యాన్స్ చేయడం, ఈత కొట్టడం, సైక్లింగ్.. వంటివి కూడా నడుముకు చక్కటి ఆకృతిని తెచ్చిపెడతాయి.* నడుము చుట్టుకొలతను తగ్గించుకోవాలనుకునే వారు కాస్త బిగుతుగా ఉండే దుస్తులు ధరించడమే ఉత్తమం. దీనివల్ల వాళ్లు బరువు పెరిగినా, తగ్గినా సులభంగా తెలిసే అవకాశం ఉంటుంది. ఒకవేళ మీకు ఇవి అసౌకర్యంగా అనిపిస్తే మీకు సౌకర్యవంతంగా ఉండే వాటినే ఎంపిక చేసుకోవచ్చు.

__Sandhya (Varsha Bollamma) expressions made this middle class story a melody!__ There was 15-20 mins story where leads act as inter college students where Varsha nailed it with her expressions.

Raghava (Anand Deverakonda) has given his best. On lighter note, his dubbing and some scenes reminded Vijay Deverakonda.

Raghava’s friend (Chaitanya Garikipati), Divya Sripada excelled in their characters. 

Director Tharun Bhascker appears in a fun cameo for a short period and definitely made his presence.

Every actor in the film have given their best.

Overall it's a great movie just that we felt it was dragged little bit.

This movie is based of a real life story of Air Deccan founder G.R. Gopinath with fictional touch to it.

There is ample drama and emotion in the film that will instantly make a connection with the viewer. Cinematography is at top notch and background score elevated every scene to next level. Emotional scenes will definitely bring tears. Chemistry between Suriya and Aparna is impeccable. All the supporting artists have a purpose and have done complete justice to their roles. 
On the whole, Aakaasam Nee Haddhu Ra is an inspiring tale.

__Review__: Kiran Kondamadugula’s Gatham is a cleverly deceptive indie offering that begins on a shaky start and gets engaging as it progresses. The thriller has so many twists (minus the campiness) along the way; it would put Abbas-Mastan to shame. Does it have its drawbacks? Sure. But the film’s team gets an A+ for veering a mile away from anything that would remotely come across as cliché. At 1-hour-41-minutes, the film’s narrative is so tightly wound, it’s hard not to stay engaged.
Set in the snowy locales of US, Gatham wastes no time in the setting up the story. The discomfort begins from the get go as Rishi (Rakesh Galebhe) wakes up from an accident and cannot remember his past due to a severe head injury. His girlfriend Adithi (Poojitha Kurapathi) takes him home and agrees to take him to his father so he can recuperate. On the way there, they meet Arjun (Bhargava Poludasu), a seemingly helpful man with a cabin in the middle of nowhere. However as the minutes go by, the couple find themselves feeling uncomfortable by the minute in the presence of Arjun and his son Harsha (Harsha Prathap). But nothing is as it seems because who is the hero and villain of this tale really?
The way Gatham begins, one expects the film to be a run-of-the-mill thriller which sees a couple fighting for survival as they’re stuck with a bunch of perverts in an isolated cabin. Thirty minutes into the film, Bhargava’s character utters something so revolting, you feel nauseated about watching a film that has already worked hard to keep you uncomfortable from the get-go. But then, Kiran does a complete 360 with his narrative and you’re left wondering if you know anything about the characters like you seem to think you do as the story progresses. To reveal anything more would be an injustice.
Gatham will definitely remind Hollywood buffs of a few films they have already seen but the film’s cast, despite all being unknown faces and Sricharan Pakala’s BGM more than makes up for it. None of their performances are spot-on mind you, but they definitely work. Rakesh sounds a little like Vijay Deverakonda thanks to his voice and diction, Poojitha looks confused most of the time or pained (can’t blame her really) and the film slowly relies on Bhargava's performance so much that it requires you to suspend disbelief and stay invested. Kiran’s screenplay too wastes no time with unnecessary plot-points or characters and sticks to the theme. The way he uses Rishi’s memory-loss as a narrative tool is clever.
At the end of the day Gatham is exactly what you expect it to be – a film made by Indian diaspora living in the US with the aim of having fun. It’s a bonus that they sure know how to narrate an interesting story. And a double bonus that there’s no fake Americanised Telugu accent in sight. Watch this one!

REVIEW: Back in the day, in their native village of Shivpur, when Vijay Chauhan aka Blackie was at the ripe age of 10, his Babuji (Anup Soni) was notorious for being an absolute phattu. But, by pure luck, his son is born with a mean streak and is also an ardent hustler in the making. So, perhaps to prove a point to the villagers and themselves, the father-son duo embarks on a journey of crime that is doomed from the start, again, thanks to Chauhan senior’s namby-pamby ways. Cut to 10 years later, Vijay – now earning the moniker Blackie because of his swindling schemes – is on the run and has settled in Mumbai as a local kaali peeli (hence the name, get it?) driver. But in the current day, the city is fuming with anger as the taxi association calls for a strike for an indefinite period of time until the government meets their demands. Not Blackie though. He refuses to adhere to the directives and looks at it as a window of opportunity to mint money and extract as much as he can from the needy… talk about being morally bankrupt! In comes the salwar-clad ticking time bomb Pooja, who’s clearly on the run from some dangerous people and has a bag full of money and jewels. Her safety, he is not worried about but the hefty moolah, he definitely is. The story of ‘Khaali Peeli’ navigates many a dark alley of Kamathipura (Mumbai’s red-light district) and finds itself back to its place of origin – Uttar Pradesh. What transpires over a period of two days – with a distinct overlap of past and future – is what this dramedy encapsulates.

Flicking the back of his collar while lighting a borrowed cigarette in a Rajinikathesque fashion, Blackie makes an open declaration about his persona to the camera.He doesn’t compromise on two aspects of his vagabond-ish life – tashan and ‘emosan’. The opening shot is evidence enough to predict that the rest of the tour is an out-and-out Bollywood masala flick. And director Maqbool Khan delivers on various accounts. There are creepy hooligans with creepier names (sample this: Yusuf Chikna!), there’s the eternal sacrifice constituting the central theme of the narrative, there is an inspector called Tawde and bullets flying all around the hero, who, well, escapes unhurt! And speaking of the pace of the film, the first 30-40 minutes are absolutely packed with quirky dialogues and has an amount of visual excitement that’s appreciable.

However, the stumbling block in ‘Khaali Peeli’ seems to be with Sima Agarwal and Yash’s screenplay: the integration of the flashbacks with the current timeline kind of takes away from the momentum of the plot; few hits and a lot of misses. In an attempt to connect the dots and explain the situation that the characters are in, the writers often turn to inculcating emotional setbacks and tried-and-tested tropes that feel a tad bit dragged. Also, the chemistry between Ishaan and Ananya is not one of the most sizzling or believable that we have seen in films in the recent past (there is an awkward kiss, too). Truth be told, the child artists playing their younger selves have a better rapport than these two.

By looking at his dominance in every frame, one can tell that Ishaan has worked really hard not only on getting into the skin of his character but also rendering the nuances right – the perfect rolling of ‘Rs’ while speaking the colloquial slang, the cocky walk of Mumbai’s roadside Romeos and basically just being air-light in action and dance sequences. In peppy numbers ‘Duniya Sharma Jaayegi’ and ‘Tehas Nehas’, Ishaan displays the skills of a trained dancer and also reminds us of a younger Shahid. Even in those Patiala suits and that enormous nose pin pierced on the wrong side, Ananya looks every bit the glam gal that she is. But it is almost impossible to imagine her character Pooja leading a dark and disturbing life in the lanes of the unforgiving Kamathipura. The fact that she is putting an effort is evident, but in this role, she lacks the conviction of a girl with a hard life. Heightening the ‘H’ in hilarious are veteran actors Zakir Hussain as inspector Tawde and Satish Kaushik as dumbo-in-denial inspector Bhim. These two humourists add the right dash of spice to the chase that gets us all restless at times. Likewise, delivering solid performances on the grey side of the line are Jaideep Ahlawat as Yusuf Chikna and, to everyone’s surprise, lyricist Swanand Kirkire as the hung-up aashique Choksi Seth. Ahlawat gets you with his deathly glares and occasional swaying of the hair. And Kirkire is what he is portrayed to be – a lustful, potbellied rich businessman.

Sure, Vishal-Shekhar music gets you grooving but the three songs that are planted in the movie are just there for the heck of it. Lyricists Rakesh Kumaar and Raj Shekhar have interesting and edgy words to offer in the three tracks that they anchor but, like we said, the songs are a bit out of place.
In a nutshell, ‘Khaali Peeli’ has slow-mos and a background score that is faster than the heartbeat of an average young adult and on top of everything, a hot pair leading the show! But it derails every once in a while and you wonder – quite empathetically – why! The Health Ministry has approved a new category for selection and nomination of candidates from ‘Wards of COVID Warriors’ under Central pool MBBS/BDS seats for the academic year 2020-21.

Five Central pool MBBS seats have been reserved for this category for the year 2020-21, said a release issued by the Ministry.

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Harsh Vardhan on Thursday announced the government’s decision to introduce a new category called ‘Wards of COVID Warriors’ in the guidelines for selection and nomination of candidates against Central pool MBBS seats for 2020-21.

The Minister added that the State/Union Territory governments will certify the eligibility for this category. “The selection of candidates will be made by the Medical Council Committee (MCC) through online application on the basis of the rank obtained in NEET-2020 conducted by National Testing Agency,” said the Ministry.

Central pool MBBS seats may be allocated for selection and nomination of the candidates from among the wards of COVID warriors who lost their lives due to COVID-19 or died accidentally while on COVID-19-related duty.

COVID warriors are all public healthcare providers including community health workers, who may have to be in direct contact and care of COVID-19 patients and who may be at risk of being impacted by this.

Private hospital staff and retired/volunteer/local urban bodies/contracted/ daily wage/ad hoc/outsourced staff requisitioned by States/ Central hospitals/autonomous hospitals of Central/States/UTs, AIIMS and Institutes of National Importance/hospitals of Central Ministries drafted for COVID-19-related responsibilities are all included, the Ministry said.

India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, in its fifty first flight (PSLV-C49), successfully launched EOS-01 along with nine international customer satellites from Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota on November 07, 2020. PSLV-C49 is the 2nd flight of PSLV in 'DL' configuration (with 2 solid strap-on motors).

PSLV-C49 lifted-off at 1511 Hrs (IST) from the First Launch Pad of SDSC SHAR, Sriharikota . After 15 minutes and 20 seconds, EOS-01 was successfully injected into its orbit. Subsequently, nine commercial satellites were injected into their intended orbits. After separation, the two solar arrays of EOS-01 were deployed automatically and the ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network at Bengaluru assumed control of the satellite. In the coming days, the satellite will be brought to its final operational configuration.

EOS-01 is an earth observation satellite, intended for applications in agriculture, forestry and disaster management support.

The nine customer satellites from Lithuania (1), Luxembourg (4) and USA (4) were launched under a commercial arrangement with NewSpace India Limited (NSIL).

Indian-American doctor Atul Gawande who has been included in US President-elect Joe Biden''s newly announced transition coronavirus advisory board on Monday said he is grateful and honoured to be asked to serve and contribute to ending the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 55-year-old Boston-based surgeon, who known for his writings and books about the medical field, expressed confidence that the virus can be brought under control, and lives and livelihoods can be saved.

"I'm grateful and honored to be asked to serve and to contribute to ending this pandemic. We have runaway spread right now. But I am confident we can get the virus under control, save lives and livelihoods, and bring people back together again," Dr Gawande tweeted.
